  • Keynote: Professional and Effective Advocacy in a Digital World. A look at increasing demands on lawyers to have a working knowledge of technology and changes to the ABA Model Rules establishing a duty of competency.
     
  • Marketing Your Practice Using Social Media Ethically. A panel presentation on how lawyers can use social media effectively to market themselves without running afoul of the Rules of Professional Conduct or risking malpractice claims.
     
  • Data Security Threats and Ethical Issues.  Panelists will discuss (1) current data security issues; (2) insurance coverage issues and availability; and (3) practical solutions for data security in the practice of law.

Afternoon Breakout Sessions (Live Only):

Transactional Track

  • Developments in E-Commerce and Internet Law.  The law regarding crowd-funding a business, accepting online payments, electronic signatures, the CAN-SPAM Act, breach notification laws, and the UDRP will also be covered.
     
  • Representing a Technology Company. In house and external counsel perspectives on the special legal needs required of tech companies.
     
  • Free and low-cost resources for legal research. Panelists identify tools for finding statutory and case law, sample briefs, motions, complaints, practice tools and more online.

Litigation Track

  • Discovering and Using Electronic Evidence.  This session addresses recent developments in e-discovery, strategies for identifying and using electronic evidence, and admissibility issues related to electronic evidence.
     
  • Using Courtroom Technology at Trial.  A live look at current use of technology in court demonstrated through mock opening statements, direct and cross examinations, and closing arguments. Follow up includes guidance from a judge, lawyers and technologists who have used courtroom technology in real trials.
