Improvements in the Judicial System

The Committee on Improvements in the Judicial System shall promote in all proper ways the election or appointment of properly qualified candidates for judicial office, and shall seek to prevent the appointment or election of unfit candidates, and to prevent political considerations from outweighing professional fitness, to the end that attorneys of high character, sound learning, wide experience, and judicial temperament, may preside over the courts of this state.  The committee shall also concern itself with judicial salaries, pensions, and tenure as a means of encouraging attorneys of desirable caliber to occupy and remain in judicial office.  In addition to the forgoing, the committee will study and report on other facets of the judicial system in Indiana as directed by the Board of Governors.
